Cobra Rear Subframe Bushings
Steeda IRS Subframe bushings improve handling, reduce wheel hop, and improve tire clearance on the 1999-2004 Mustang Cobra. The entire rear suspension of the Cobra is attached to a steel subframe, which in turn is attached to the car with just four rubber bushings. The rubber bushings deflect under load, leading to wheel hop and less predictable handling. Our polyurethane bushing kit substantially reduces unwanted subframe movement and wheel hop. You will notice an immediate improvement in car control after installing these bushings. Steeda’s Subframe bushing kit includes two other important features. First, we include the correct 14mm bolts to fit the car. The forward factory mounting points on the Cobra have 14mm holes but many cars were assembled from the factory with 12mm bolts. We provide new grade 10.9 nuts and bolts of the correct size. This ensures correct alignment of the subframe and prevents the bolts from shifting in the large 14mm holes. Second, Steeda subframe bushing kits include new rear bolts with a low profile round head to increase tire clearance. Aluminum Steering Rack Bushings, Spherical washer, MM K-Member Improve your Mustang’s turn-in response by installing Maximum Motorsports’ steering rack bushings! They Increase the effect of Ackerman steering geometry by moving the steering rack rearward in the chassis and eliminate the steering rack movement allowed by rubber and urethane bushings. These precision-made bushings are CNC machined from heat-treated 6061 aluminum. Maximum Motorsports' research on bumpsteer proved that with a stock K-member, a center drilled bushing is best, whatever the ride height. When large changes in geometry have been made, as with the MM K-member, the correct use of offset steering rack bushings will relocate the rack to a position which makes it easier to correct the bumpsteer with the MM Adjustable Tie-Rod Ends. We don't recommend offset rack bushings for stock K-Members... Offset steering rack bushings move the rack far too much on stock K-Members, and make an acceptible situation far worse than if you had done nothing at all. Product Details Steeda Aluminum Rack bushings adjust both Ackerman angle and bumpsteer geometry, for better steering response, quicker corner-entry turn-in and more stability. The aluminum bushings replace the factory rubber bushings that mount the steering rack to the front crossmember. By eliminating deflection in the rubber mount, steering response is quicker and more precise. The reversible flange design can be installed two different ways, giving the installer the choice of maintaining factory Ackerman geometry or increasing Ackerman to quicken turn-in and reduce tire scrub in sharp corners. The offset bolt hole in the bushing moves the steering rack up on the crossmember to correct bumpsteer geometry on cars with modified suspensions such as increased caster, X2 balljoints, aftermarket K-members, or other modifications. 0.25" offset - Fits 85-04 Mustang Two different offset heights are available to suit different applications. A .25" offset fits all Mustangs from 1985 to 2004. A .400" offset is also available for cars requiring larger corrections. The .400" offset fits 1985 to 1995, and will also fit 96-04 applications but may cause interference between the steering rack and the 4.6L oil pan on some cars. Adjustable anti-squat (instant center) geometry lets you choose between 65% and 98% anti-squat for maximum traction and reduced brake dive. The 5-Link's adjustable panhard bar (the lateral, or "Fifth" link) corrects the high 16" factory roll center height with a roll center height that's adjustable from 8 to 12 inches. The MM strut tower brace uses three bolts at each strut tower top, as three bolts are more rigid than two. We use 5/16" bolts, rather that the commonly used 1/4" bolts (which are known to break). MM's main tube is made of rigid 1-1/4" DOM seamless tubing. 1-1/4" tubing is twice as stiff as the generally used 1" tubing, and DOM seamless tubing is is 30% stiffer than the commonly used ERW type tubing. The firewall mounting point for the strut towers’ rear braces is the pinchweld which runs the width of the firewall. This pinchweld was formed by folding three pieces of metal together, and then welding them together. When attaching something to sheet metal, the best mounting point is at a joint or a corner, such as the pinchweld (the joining of the upper firewall, the lower firewall, and the floor of the cowl). The pinchweld is the strongest portion of the firewall, providing an extremely stiff mounting point for the strut brace.

MM - 4-Point K-Member Brace - 1994-95 5.0 Mustang
The stock K-member is designed as a mounting point for the front control arms and the engine. It is also bolted to the chassis and becomes a structural member of the chassis and front suspension. The stock K-member is not capable of handling all of the suspension forces directed into the side of it by the front control arms during extreme cornering. These forces cause the K-member to deflect, leading to alignment changes. The MM 4-Point K-Member brace reduces flex by bracing across the K-member providing a load path into the chassis. This bracing is done at the rear of the K-member (the area of greatest deflection) - see photo. Our brace mounts to the K-member in the front and the K-Member and chassis in the rear. The MM K-Member brace’s design includes a structural steel web, so the suspension loads are fed into the unibody as well as across the K-member. Due to the combined strength of the web and 1” tubing, our K-member brace does not flex. The mounting bolts for the brace attach through a structural tube, which transfers the suspension loads into the MM brace without it deflecting. 4-Point braces will not clear long-tube headers. MMKB2-2 will clear some. Call our tech line for more information. The 4-point K-Member Braces may have a slight interference with the automatic transmisions' cooler lines. The reduced longitudinal pitch of the vehicle during heavy braking, due to the optimized spring calibration, improves the overall braking efficiency. The higher rate of the front springs reduces the amount of load transferred to the front tires. This causes the load on all four tires to be more evenly distributed providing additional traction to the rear tires. The additional gain in rear traction usually results in reduced braking distances. The proportionate increase in spring rate also reduces body roll, which limits adverse suspension movement. Product Details Steeda's SuperLite Drag Race Springs use a longer front coil that stores more energy to lift the front of the car during launch, aiding body rotation to transfer more weight to the rear tires for increased traction. The right rear spring incorporates a progressive coil design that reduces the effect of axle torque, reducing body roll and helping the right rear tire stay planted to the ground during launch. The spring rates are tuned for improved traction at the strip, while maintaining good ride quality and acceptable handling on the street. Just like the name says, Steeda SuperLite Drag Springs incorporate the latest manufacturing technology to reduce weight. They weigh 6 pounds less than comparable springs from Eibach or Ford Racing. Ride height is about the same as stock springs. However, because the springs are softer than stock, ride height may be more affected by the weight of the vehicle than with factory springs. Full-weight street cars typically sit 1/4 to 1/2 inch lower than stock. Light weight race cars will sit a little higher. High torque cars can further minimize axle torque induced body roll with an optional airbag kit (sold separately). Fine tuning the air pressure inside the airbag can help the car go straighter during launch. Note: Does not fit 99-04 Cobra. Adjustable Pedal Stop
Steeda's new pedal stop adjusts the height of the clutch pedal for better driving comfort and optimum pedal travel. The factory pedal placement puts the clutch about two inches above the brake pedal. Aftermarket quadrants lower the pedal down a little, but exactly how much varies based on the design of the quadrant, and can't be adjusted. Either way, the result is a compromise as some people prefer the pedal higher or lower. In addition, some racing clutches release very quickly and require the pedal travel to be shortened to prevent damage to the diaphragm. Adjustable cable and quadrant kits have been used for years to adjust the tension of the clutch cable, but they don't adjust the height of the pedal when your foot is off the clutch. That height is fixed in place by the design of the quadrant. Steeda's new pedal stop adjusts the height of the pedal with the simple turn of bolt. Installation is simple and requires no drilling. When one tire begins to lose traction, the Torsen instantly senses the change in torque being applied to the ground. The excess torque that cannot be delivered to the ground by the tire that is beginning to lose traction is delivered to the opposite tire, which has better traction and can take more torque. The Torque Bias Ratio (TBR) is the ratio indicating how much more torque the Torsen can send to the tire with more available traction, than is used by the tire with less traction. This ratio represents the "locking effect" of the differential. The 4:1 TBR of the Torsen T-2R means that this differential is capable of delivering up to four times as much torque to the tire with better traction than is delivered to the tire with the least available traction. By comparison, the Torsen T-2R can deliver about 2.5 times as much torque to both rear tires, collectively, as an open differential can, given the same conditions. During braking there is little or no torque being conveyed to the differential, and so there is little or no torque difference between the two rear tires. Because of this, the Torsen differential does not interfere with the functioning of anti-lock brake systems. The clutch plates of the Mustang's stock Traction-Lock differential wear out, requiring periodic replacement to maintain its functionality.
